It’s only fitting that after my last post on my 2017 highlights that I share with you my goals and targets for the upcoming year.
I’ve never been one for resolutions and if I’m honest, I don’t really like making them. Why do we need to wait until the 1st January to make changes in our life? I’m all for improvement and change at any time during the year! But as I’ve got some big things happening this year, I think I need to set myself a few little goals to keep myself focused and grounded.
1. Create regular and engaging content on my blog
I’ve had this little space on the internet for about 3 years now but I upload sporadically. Some months can have several posts, others can have none. I want to create a consistent schedule and stick to it. (If there’s anything you’d like to see, let me know!)
2. Make more vlogs
I’m still fairly new to vlogging but I love the whole process. After my disastrous attempt at Vlogmas (stomach bugs all round for a week interrupted my flow), I really want to get back into it. Looking at my stats, you prefer watching days out over anything else so that’ll be my main focus. I’m also going to share my meal plan and food shopping which sounds boring but I actually get asked about these things a lot.
3. Carry on practicing self care
As I said in my last post, I only started taking care of myself about 9 months ago. Before then, I was so focused on being a good mum, “wife” and all round human that I completely forgot to look after myself. I do little things each day and then try and do a bigger thing once a week. I’m going to be writing a post about this so keep an eye out for that.
4. Spend more time with my other half
Since having Archie, who is now 16 months, we’ve had 2 dates. In preparation for Archie being left with my mum when we go on our honeymoon (he’s still super clingy and I don’t want him to be a nightmare!), we’re going to have more dates between now and then so he gets used to me not being around. As well as that, we’re going to be having date nights at home with those “dine in for 2” meal deals and a film.
5. Cut down MASSIVELY on takeaways
We’ve all done it. After a bad day with the kids, cooking is the last thing you want to do so you find yourself reaching for the takeaway menus. Towards the end of last year, we were having at least one a week. As well as not being great for our bodies, it’s a huge waste of money.
6. Make our house a home
Our house isn’t the best. It’s very small and isn’t built to the best quality (I’ve lost count of the amount of times the towel rail has fallen off!) We were planning to move next year but with a holiday and a wedding, I don’t think we’ll be able to afford it. So we’ll make the best of a not-so-great situation and make it our own. Starting with a new sofa this month!
7. Stop wasting time on toxic relationships
We all have them. The relationships which stress us out and make us question ourselves. This year, I’m not going to waste another second on them. Life is too short for that.
8. Just enjoy it!
I’ve turned into a stressy and slightly shouty mum…I don’t want that. I want to enjoy every day with my little family, not to stress about little things. Life is too short after all!
I wonder how many I’ll actually stick to? And will I be able to look back at the end of this year and say I completed them? Only time will tell. Have you got any goals or targets for this year? I’d love to hear them.
