My 2017 Highlights

For most people, 2017 wasn’t a great year. I have to say, mine was actually alright. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t perfect by any means and 2018 is set to be better but I can’t look back on the last year and pinpoint anything awful that happened. I think it was just…mundane.

Nevertheless, there were some highlights and great moments and I’ve chosen some of my favourites to share with you. Some might seem trivial but they stick out in my mind as being pretty great.

1. Archie turned one

I did it! I survived what can only be described as the hardest year of my life. If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that Archie can’t be described as an easy baby. He’s very intense and high needs but I think we’re coming out the other side. To most, he still seems hard work but trust me, he’s A LOT easier.

2. I got my golden boobies

I never managed to breastfeed Henry successfully. But at 16 month, Archie is still going strong. I’m so ready to stop and I’m actually trying to stop him feeding during the day but it’s not going so well. We didn’t have the easiest of starts and I’m so proud we’ve made it this far.

3. Henry turned three

Every year with Henry is amazing. He’s so clever and funny, it always amazes me how much he can pick up and remember.

4. I became self employed

As well as writing my blog, I’m a freelance writer. This year, I bit the bullet and registered as self employed. I’m now earning enough for us to not have to count every last penny. And that is an amazing feeling.

5. We booked our wedding and honeymoon

We’ll celebrate our 5 year anniversary in March and we’ve been engaged for 3 and a half years. We figured it was time to make it official, we’re pretty much a married couple anyway! So in July, we’ll become husband and wife, followed by a short trip to Edinburgh. It’ll be our first solo time away since having Archie and I can’t wait!

6. I rediscovered self care

This might sound ridiculous but with the high demands of Archie, I was neglecting myself. I’ve started putting on makeup again, I got 2 piercings this year and dyed my hair a range of colours and finally settled on orange. I’ve bought myself new clothes and subscribed to a couple of beauty boxes. And I have to say, I feel much better for it!

And there we have it! My highlights of the past year. I’ve got a few goals for 2018 and I’ll share those with you all in the next week. I hope you all have a wonderful 2018.
