I can’t believe it’s time for me to write another one of these already. I don’t feel like it was a month ago that I put out the post about my January box.

I was quite excited about this month’s. An email was sent out saying you could choose your box design, it was based on previous decades. There was the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. I was born in 1994 so while I’m technically a 90’s baby, I don’t remember much of it. I decided to let it be a surprise. When it arrived, I discovered I’d been sent the 80’s box (which Gareth quite liked, he’s a big fan of the 80’s).

The box design was pretty snazzy. It was blue, purple and pink with thick zig zags and lines over it. It also had blue dots on it which reminded me of stars, especially against the colours of the backdrop. I really didn’t know what to expect this month, I’d only seen one sneak peek so 4 of the products were a surprise which I love. That’s one of the things I enjoy most about a subscription box, not knowing what’s being delivered until I open the box. So I guess it’s time to tell you what I got this time….

The Beauty Crop Eyeshadow Trio in Love You Latte – Up until a few months ago, me and eyeshadow just didn’t get on. A quick winged eyeliner was the most effort I’d put in, I just wasn’t confident enough to apply eyeshadow. But I’ve started to be braver and brown or nudes shades are my go to at the moment. So this Birchbox exclusive was right up my street. There’s a dark brown, a shimmery gold and a lighter brown. They contain coffee extracts making them highly pigmented. This was one of the two full size products this month and costs £7 which I would definitely pay.

ModelCo Green Concealer – This was the second full size product and costs £14. While this product does work, I’ve found cheaper products which are just as good. I suffered with terrible skin in my teenage years and I still have quite red skin. Putting some of this on before I apply my foundation really evens out my skin tone and gives me a better finish overall.

Percy & Reed Quite Frankly Flawless Finishing Polish – I received a Percy & Reed product in November’s box and I loved it. It was a “No-Oil Oil” and I’m still using it now to tame my thick hair. I haven’t had a chance to try this out yet because I’m growing out my hair so most days it’s under a hair wrap to hide the awful stage it’s at but I will put it away to use when it’s decent enough to be shown again! For a full size bottle, this would cost £10. I do like Percy & Reed so would probably pay this price.

Luseta Coconut Milk Hair Mask – Definitely my favourite product this month. My hair is orange at the moment but if you take a look at my roots, you’ll know this isn’t my natural colour. I have to dye it roughly once a month and bleach every three if it’s not light enough for me to get the bright colour I like. So a nourishing hair mask is something my hair desperately needs! I’ve used it once since receiving the box and my hair was in a really good condition afterwards. It’s got a lovely coconut scent which is to be expected so probably no good if you’re not a fan! RRP is £32. I think this is a bit much for a hair mask because as with the green concealer, I’ve seen others which are just as good but cheaper. I do love it though.

LAQA & CO B’Lighter – We all know I’m not a fan of blushers and I don’t even know how to highlight so I really didn’t expect to like this at all. But I thought I’d give it a go and I’m really glad I did. While the product looks quite pink, it’s almost got the consistency of a lip gloss so it doesn’t come out as dark as it looks. I just apply it to the apples of my cheeks to give them colour and a shine. You can blend it to highlight your cheekbones or build the product for more colour, it’s up to you. This would cost £12. I definitely wouldn’t have bought it before receiving this box but I might be a convert now!

I was really impressed with this box. Apart from the Percy & Reed Finishing Polish (which I would use if my hair needed to be styled), I’m using all of the products. There was a good mix of beauty and makeup products which I enjoyed, I like to pamper myself as well as applying makeup! You can still order this box from the Birchbox website so if you want to get your hands on these products, get yourself over there!
